Flying to Dubai with prescription medication

Dubai is where travellers are most often surprised. "It is an ordinary medication, I have taken it for years" — and at home, that is true. In the United Arab Emirates, some medications that feel routine elsewhere are classified differently, and the gap usually shows up at the airport, when it is already too late to fix.

Why "a friend flew with it" does not help

Your friend flew with a different medication, at a different dose, in a different quantity, for a different length of stay — and was probably never checked. Other people’s experience tells you what happened to them, not what the destination asks of you.
